Since January 1, 2011 those citizens who have paid tax receipt Vehicles mechanical traction, better known as road tax, shall not be required to present to traffic when they go to do some processing on the provincial headquarters.

This resolution of the General Directorate of Traffic, published in the Official Gazette last July and the January 1, 2011 came into force, aims to simplify and make easy administrative procedures that citizens must do with their vehicles.

Before the entry into force of that decision, the Traffic Department will not process the administrative change in ownership of a vehicle while the owner had not credited the payment of road tax for the taxable period of the year before the procedure is performed. From January 1st, Traffic only Payment require accreditation if satisfied that the vehicle owner has not paid the tax.

To carry out this measure, local councils, the end of the period of collection of such tax information electronically transmit Traffic Vehicle Registry General Directorate of Traffic of the list of taxpayers who have not paid the tax, with only the latter to which this accreditation will be required when making arrangements before the Headquarters.

This measure will give an annual saving of 3 million copies (to be presented the receipt in the 3 million changes of ownership), saving the days for the approximately 100 staff of the Central Administration and Local, currently responsible for monitoring compliance with the tax and savings of approximately 22 million euros of citizens working hours and travel costs posed by the lack of interconnection between the Headquarters and the municipalities.

This resolution, which implements Article 99 of the Local Finance Law, is the result of work between the General Directorate of Traffic and the English Federation of Municipalities and Provinces to simplify the procedures for the vehicle.
